A gentle man

I first  met Ray in 1995 at Circle Press where I marched in seeing how much it would cost to print my first poetry collection The Guerilla Tapestry. I was a little naive and overly idealistic  and was met by this calmly spoken man with twinkling eyes who talked me through the costs the process etc. Instantly I trusted Ray and knew he was a professional in his field. Two weeks later it was ready. Like giving birth ( I imagine)  this little book of poems arrived. Ray had enjoyed doing it he said. I paid him and off I went. I never forgot that day. Ray's smile. His calm manner. Soft voice. His fairness. His realness. A true gentle man. And oh how the world shall miss him.
